Mull Music Makers offers young people from the Isle of Mull the opportunity to embark on a wonderful musical journey.

Mull Music Makers is a unique grassroots community music project inspiring the next generation of young islanders

Mull Music Makers offers young people on the island of Mull the opportunity to learn the violin and develop their general musicianship. Weekend workshops, held monthly during term time are led by the celebrated Scottish musician and educator, Patsy Reid.

The team of regular and guest tutors come from the mainland to teach and encourage the young players. Between times there are online lessons and videos to help the music makers practise the learning from the workshops.

Summer Week

In the long school holiday we organise our Summer Week, five days of concentrated learning and impromptu performances (in the open air if the weather allows) and a final ceilidh where families, friends and visitors can enjoy and be impressed by the talented young musicians of Mull.

We are sorry that due to high demand, registration is now FULL for our Summer Beginner Sessions.

2025-26 update

Another busy year with milestone performances alongside The Maxwell Quartet and at our community fundraiser concert

Our 2025-26 workshops programme got off to a blistering start with our young musicians putting in some milestone performances, first at Mendelssohn on Mull and later at our big fundraiser concert with the spellbinding band, From the Ground (including our very own Patsy Reid!)

The fundraiser was generously sponsored by the Quin family and we were able to make a good dent in our funding shortfall thanks to overwhelming community support. In a tricky year for funding, this has made all the difference and makes us feel stronger.

The workshops, online lessons and the Summer Week are free

This is so that any young person who wants to be a Music Maker can be part of this amazing community initiative.
